What’s the difference between mineral and chemical sunscreen?

Mineral sunscreens use natural ingredients like Zinc Oxide to create a protective barrier on the skin, reflecting and scattering harmful UV rays. Chemical sunscreens, on the other hand, contain synthetic compounds that absorb UV rays and convert them into heat, which is then released from the skin making them a little less ideal for sensitive or blemish-prone skin since they absorb into skin.

Is this good for sensitive or breakout-prone skin?

Yes! The Simple Shield contains Zinc Oxide which is generally preferred by sensitive skin types thanks to its soothing benefits - plus it forms a barrier rather an absorbing into skin which can cause some stress. Better yet, the oil-free formula contains ingredients like Kombucha keep skin balanced while BHA helps keep pores from clogging as easily.

Should I only apply it to my face?

As with any of our skincare products, we believe that the neck and chest are just as important as the face!
